Vidia Roopchand was born in 1967 on Wakenaam Island in Guyana. He is the first child of Roopchand and Sherine Roopchand nee Bacchus (both teachers). Nicknamed “Bobbin” from the bobbin in the sewing machine (grandfather was a tailor). Vidia Roopchand has worked with Pfizer for 28 years and is also a Mentor for new Pfizer Viral Vaccines researchers.
His educational backround, Sans Souci Methodist School (Wakenaam) (Elementary School), Anna Regina Multilateral School (1978-1984) (High School), BSc (Chemistry, University of Guyana, 1990), MS (Chemical Engineering) Columbia University, and MS (Immunology, New York Medical College) Vidia Roopchand has been contributing to vaccine development for the last 28 years at Pfizer. Was a contributor to the early phase of the “Kick Wild Polio out of Africa” movement initiated by the late great South African president, Mr Nelson Mandela. Efforts have contributed to the reduction of polio and pneumococcal disease and recently SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) He is a Husband and father of three.
